Biography

Since completing an appointment as the Assistant Conductor of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra in 2007, Laura Jackson has maintained an active career as a guest conductor with orchestras across the United States. During the 2007–08 season, Ms. Jackson appeared with the symphonies of Alabama, Berkeley, Billings Montana, Boca Raton, Detroit, Sacramento, and Wyoming, as well as the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra and the New World Symphony. Her season closed with a return to the Atlanta Symphony for subscription concerts in May and a recording with the Bournemouth Symphony in England.

During her three-year tenure in Atlanta, Ms. Jackson conducted the Young People's Concerts, Symphony 360º Series, Summer Classical Concerts, as well as several ASO Classical Subscription Series concerts. She remained active as a guest conductor with engagements including the symphonies of Winnipeg, Toronto, Toledo, San Antonio, and Baltimore. In 2005 she performed with the Colorado Symphony as winner of the Taki Concordia Fellowship.

Prior to her appointment to Atlanta, Ms. Jackson studied conducting at the University of Michigan and attended the Tanglewood Music Center in 2003 as the Seiji Ozawa Conducting Fellow where she directed concerts of both traditional and contemporary repertoire.
